IPTV Not Working? 12 Fixes in the Order That Solves It Fastest

Vio IPTV cover graphic with wrench symbol — IPTV not working, twelve fixes

When IPTV is not working, it almost always fails in one of a handful of ways, and most of them take under a minute to fix. The trick is doing the fixes in the right order: simplest and most likely first, rare and involved last.

Start at fix 1 and work down. Most problems are solved by fix 4. If you reach the end, our support team is a WhatsApp message away.

🩺 First, identify the symptom

🔧 The 12 fixes

1. Restart the app, then the device

Close the player completely (not just Home) and reopen it. If that does not work, unplug the streaming device for 30 seconds. This clears most temporary glitches.

2. Restart your router and modem

Unplug both for 30 seconds, plug the modem back first, then the router. Wait two minutes before testing. Home routers that run for weeks without a restart are a very common cause of streaming problems.

3. Test your internet on the same device

Run a speed test on the streaming device itself, not your phone. You want at least 10–15 Mbps steady for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K. See internet speed for IPTV.

4. Move from Wi-Fi to Ethernet (or 5 GHz)

The single most effective fix for buffering. A wired connection removes interference from walls, neighbours' networks and microwaves. If you cannot run a cable, connect to the 5 GHz network and move the router closer. Our buffering guide goes deeper.

5. Check your subscription dates

An expired term looks exactly like a broken service. Check your activation email for the end date, or ask support.

6. Re-enter your login details

A mistyped server URL, username or password, or an extra space copied with them, stops everything from loading. Delete the playlist in your player and add it again carefully.

7. Close streams on other devices

"Max connections reached" means your plan's simultaneous screens are in use. Close the player on tablets, phones or TVs left running. See IPTV on multiple devices.

8. Refresh the TV guide (EPG)

In your player's settings, update or reload the EPG and check that the time zone matches your province. In TiviMate this is under Settings, EPG; in IPTV Smarters Pro, use the refresh option on the live TV screen.

9. Try another feed of the same channel

If one channel fails and others work, its source feed is probably being updated. Many channels have backup feeds (HD, FHD, 4K or alternative versions) in the same group. Give it a few minutes, then report it if it does not return.

10. Fix audio problems

No sound or the wrong language usually means the wrong audio track. Open the player's audio options and pick another track. If you use a soundbar, try switching the device's audio output from passthrough to PCM or stereo.

11. Clear the app cache or update the app

On Fire TV and Android TV: Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, your player, Clear cache. Then check for an app update. Outdated players are a common cause of crashes. See our IPTV app guide.

12. Test on another network

Connect the device to your phone's hotspot briefly. If it works there and not at home, the issue is your home network or internet provider. Some providers manage video traffic during congestion, and Canadian courts have ordered blocking of certain services. A VPN can help in some cases; see do you need a VPN for IPTV?

Problems only during big games? If streams fail only at peak hours while your connection tests fine, the bottleneck is likely the provider's servers. Read anti-freeze servers explained for what good infrastructure looks like.

❓ IPTV not working: common questions

Why is my IPTV not working?
The most common causes are a home network problem (Wi-Fi, router), an app that needs restarting or clearing its cache, an expired subscription, wrong login details, or a single channel feed being temporarily down. Work through the fixes from simplest to most involved.
Why does only one channel not work?
A single channel failing while others work usually means that channel's source feed is temporarily down or changing. Try its backup feed if your lineup has one, wait a few minutes, and report it to support if it persists.
Why is my IPTV TV guide (EPG) empty?
The EPG may not have finished downloading, the app's EPG cache may be stale, or the guide URL may be missing. Refresh or update the EPG in your player's settings, and check the time zone setting.
Can my internet provider block IPTV?
Canadian courts have ordered internet providers to block specific unlicensed services, and some providers manage video traffic during congestion. If streams fail on one network but work on another (for example your phone's data), contact support.
